When I
had the creative meeting with me myself and I, about what to call this section
of the blog, I thought: What’s on TV! But let’s be real, no one really watches
tv anymore. So here we are, in my new regular posts where the idea is to share
with you some interesting series that you may be missing on and basically
marathon material for those times when you and your couch become an entity.
I would like to
start saying that I am not a good adviser for series for the simple reason that
I have what some may call bad taste or luck. There was a time when every show I
enjoyed ended up getting canceled, basically you don’t want me
to enjoy too much a series, unless your intention is for it to end. (Supernatural
creators are lucky I stopped watching ages ago).
For this
very reason I went and got help from a series addict (her words not mine) and
asked her what series should we all watch and I added some that I think are worth for you to take a look. I will let you guess the ones that are my input, please let me
know to see if you got those right.
Let’s get
to it!
Vikings:
this one is for the action, epic battles and intrigue fans. I will have you
know that you risk losing some sleep over this one. It is definitely a good
choice for those of you waiting for GoT final season. And in case you need more convincing is produced by History Channel, meaning that is basically cultural, go and learn how people attacked each other centuries ago!
The Killing:
Moving to AMC, this is not your usual crime drama. Rosie Larsen has been
murdered and the police does not know who did it, everyone is a potential
murderer and as you get a closer look to each one of the characters, you
understand the “ulterior motive” concept. Be ready to start making guesses, hating characters and enjoying the dynamic of the
detective Linden and the new wanna-be detective Holder, until…
Sense 8:
Another Netflix wonder. You have 8 people, 8 cities and things get weird, it
definitely has a compelling plot, except for the whole no privacy and feeling
everything that other seven people feel. At the beginning all I could think of
was: "look! that's uncle Benjen!" and then “oh, boy there are some people I definitely do not want to be connected to”
but it would be nice to know how to go all ninja on someone all of a sudden. Yes that is my dreamed skill. Moving on...
Banshee:
Netflix is not the only one with interesting things. Banshee is a 4 seasons action, Cinemax tv series with some serious situation happening. People is just
not what you think, starting by the town’s new Sheriff. It involves so much viciousness, twisted minds, blood, loyalty, love... And there is no good side to choose, but you
will choose one *wink.
Altered
Carbon: The cause of a long and tiresome Monday at work a couple of weeks ago.
Set in a futuristic world where consciousnesses can be transferred from body to body
and the moral compass is quite bend. It has action, flying cars, romance, the coolest
hotel manager you will ever see and… yeah it has lots of other interesting
stuff.

Pensé en
llamar a esta sección del blog: qué hay en tv, pero seamos honestos:
nadie ve la televisión en estos días.
En esta nueva sección de posts quiero compartir con
ustedes algunas series interesantes de las que podríamos estarnos perdiendo, ya
saben, esas que terminamos maratoneándonos matando nuestra vida social en el
proceso.
Antes de pasar al tema principal, les cuento que no soy
buena con las series. No se si es por gusto o por suerte pero hubo un tiempo en
que todas las series que disfrutaba ¡terminaban siendo canceladas! Básicamente
no me quieren disfrutando mucho una serie, a menos que su intención sea que
termine.
Por esta razón busqué asesoría de una experta en el tema y
la responsable de que haya llegado un día al trabajo con solo 4 horas de sueño,
con sus sugerencias y algo de mi input aquí les traigo cinco series, actuales y
ya finalizadas.
Vikingos: Para los que les gusta la acción, las batallas
épicas y la intriga. No necesito decir más, además de la bienintencionada
advertencia de posible pérdida de sueño sobre esta serie. Lo interesante (además
de lo anterior) es que de hecho también es producida por History Channel y dado
que Ragnar fue real y la serie se basa en esas leyendas, estás
culturizándote, aprendiendo sobre una cultura lejana y disfrutando viendo
humanos rubios y altos atacándose unos a otros. Gana-gana.
The Killing: Una producción de AMC, no es el típico drama
sobre asesinatos. ¿Quién asesinó a Rosie Larsen? Todo el mundo es un potencial
asesino y al acercarse a cada uno de los personajes, comprendes el significado
de “segunda intención”. Seguramente tendrán teorías, odiarán personajes, sentirán empatía por otros y
disfrutarán de la dinámica de la experta detective linden y del inexperto
Holder, hasta que…
Sense 8: Otra maravilla Netflix. Tienes 8 personas, 8
ciudades distintas… y luego todo se vuelve extraño. Tiene una trama muy
atrayente sobre conexión con otras personas. Excepto por la parte de no
privacidad y sentir lo que otras siete personas sienten, es algo muy genial
poder de repente tener habilidades para algo que no eras bueno antes. Aunque es
inevitable pensar en la –tal vez larga- lista de personas con las que no
querrías estar conectado.
Banshee: Netflix no es el único con series interesantes.
Banshee es una serie de acción de Cinemax que consta de 4 temporadas y hay una
situación bastante compleja pasando. Algunas personas simplemente tienen talento para estar al margen de la ley, comenzando por el nuevo Sheriff del pueblo. Hay malicia nivel 10,
mentes seriamente necesitadas de ayuda, sangre, lealtad, amor y no hay un lado “bueno” para escoger, pero
obviamente vas a escoger *wink.
Altered Carbon: Esta
serie es la responsable del lunes con solo 4 horas de sueño del que les hablaba
al principio. Está situada en un mundo futurístico en el que cambiar de planeta
es algo más bien normal y en el que la conciencia se puede transferir entre
cuerpos. Tiene acción, autos voladores, romance, el mejor hotel manager del
mundo y… Bueno tiene otras cosas muy interesantes.
Y esas son todas por ahora, cuál o cuáles de entre las 5
creen que son las “mías”?
